Parent involvement in building the community and as a partner in education with the school is powerful. There are numerous parent networks and parent support networks around that the state that support parents in becoming a resource to your child’s school if you should choose to do so. Building a community is vital to creating a safe, nurturing and engaged environment. Parents have the best opportunity to do this and great schools welcome parents in this role.
Michigan PTA mobilizes the forces of school, home, and community in order to ensure a quality education and northing environment for every child. PTA National Standards for Family-School Partnerships offer a great guide for expectations that each school should be held to and for the roles that parents should feel comfortable in playing as their child’s advocate.
